The Golden Rule

Last week, our class decided on our class rules, rights, and expectations. It took us three days to finalize, but I think that the final product was well worth the time. The class unanimously decided that the most important thing that a student do is..., "Treat others the way you want to be treated." For fifth graders, these students have a good sense of ethics which does not reflect me but their parents. The "Golden Rule" may not seem novel or cutting edge, but I think its simple words give children and adults alike a common, understandable guide for behavior.
